On 88 illustrated pages and with 22 colour plates, the Iranian artist Naghi Naghashian interprets the quatrains of Omar Khayyam with their timeless beauty in a strikingly new way. The book is laid out in four languages, Persian, German, English and French. Mr. Naghashian understands his selection of translations and his illustrations as an attempt to create a holistic interpretation of the writings of Khayyam and as a visual tribute to his poetic and philosophical works.
This is the story of a painting from fifteenth century, Iran. The paintings small size contrasts its art-historical value, and its composition is irrefutable evidence for the paintings artistic worth. The secluded confession of the painter lie just below final layer of paint. Displaying this mystery was the main intention of the autor.
